A number of investors within the Atlanta Technology Angels and the Atlanta community have recently asked me if we (ATA) could provide a short program to help Georgia based entreprenuers understand the basics of angel investing—from an investors viewpoint.
I said, “Sure, when?”
They said, “How about this summer?”
I said, “OK.”
As the Atlanta Technology Angels has been investing in young technology companies since 1999 and has invested in over 40 Georgia based companies, a program such as this makes perfect sense. Additionally, investors in the Atlanta Technology Angels also have mentored dozens of Georgia-based entrepreneurs since 1999. Mentoring entepreneurs, as well as funding them, is not something we boast about–it is something we feel is a natural extension of what we do. Last, as there is often much misinformation spread about angel investing and angel investors, this is probably a timely program for Georgia-based entrepreneurs.
So, here it is:

Thanks Knox for kicking this event off. I look forward to the event and helping contribute to the event in whatever way I can. Starting a business is hard enough, so anything we can do to shorten the learning curve and increase the probability of success will help entreprenuers. Learning more about how to partner with smart money through experienced angel investors is what this event should be all about. Looking forward to it.

The community is crying out for programs like this that are taught by actual investors. It’s one thing if service providers like me teach these classes. It’s a whole different ballgame when actual check-writers do.
I hope this is the start of a habit.
Bravo and Thank You.

Mike Thies–If you and I have not yet touched base via email, I’ll get in touch today…
Mike Blake–Appreciate the comment. Atlanta’s need for programs such as this has grown exponentially in large part because of some of the recent programs you have helped get off the ground. I’m always happy to help in continuing the growth of Atlanta’s entrepreneurial base!
Thank you very much for organizing this. I am interested in July 23rd event. I look forward to attending your event.
I would be interested in attending the 7/8 event if there is room or the event on 7/23. Thanks for putting this together.
