Angel Capital Association

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The Atlanta Technology Angels  group is one of the founding members of the Angel Capital Association.  ACA, as we call it, was organized in 2003 and formed in 2004. ACA is now incorporated as a non-profit professional association, and is led by a Board of Directors comprised of angel group leaders. A tip of the hat goes to the Kauffman Foundation who was the initial “seed” investor (as in grants) for the ACA.

ACA was founded to do this:

  • outline and share best practices for operating angel organizations
  • develop industry benchmarks for success
  • advise members on processes and relationships with entrepreneurs
  • assist in the development of needed data and research on angel investing
  • create and maintain a vibrant Web portal
  • promote regional collaboration among angel groups, encouraging joint investment
  • encourage individual angel investors to join angel organizations

Information on joining:

  • Full Membership is open to groups of angel investors, located in North America, investing predominately in private equity through a member-directed investment process.
  • Provisional Membership is available to organizations that are in formation and which have good faith intent to meet the criteria for full membership within twelve months of the ACA application.

Or here: Join ACA!

What is the importance of ACA? 125 organizations are now members of ACA. 125! I bet most of you didn’t even know that 125 angel groups existed in the US! Know what’s best? We all talk to each other…….
